What a wonderful week we have had! It has been lovely to welcome back all our children after the Summer break. We have welcomed many new families too and I want to say how impressed we have all been in how they have come into school and settled in so quickly. Starting back at school or starting at a new school brings with it so many emotions, from excitement to apprehension. Well done to all our children who have been so brave and come in and got on with their learning and started making new friends. I know too that for our parents of the children that have just started with us, this is a nerve wracking time for all of you as well. Please know we will all continue to do all we can to make you feel welcome.
Today I worked with my Senior Leadership Team on our RA100. This is the risk assessment that all schools have been required to keep throughout the pandemic; it is a working document and as you will know, has been updated throughout this time and shared on our website.
The updated RA100 is now complete and will be shared with staff so we can discuss any upcoming changes. There will be some things that we have had in place during this time that we want to keep in place because they have proven to be of real benefit to our children. Once staff have had time to ask questions the document will be go to identified governors to be ratified and then will go on the website.
The key change that we know we will be making is having parents back on site at drop off and pick times. It is something that I know both staff and parents have missed; that daily contact. We are aiming to return to all year groups starting and finishing school at the same time. More information about how and when this will be facilitated will be shared with parents via letter and also via face to face communication; meet the teacher and RA100 changes meetings will take place w/b 27th September 2021; dates for these meetings for each year group will be provided shortly once phase groups have provided me with confirmation of timings.
These consultations will take a few weeks and we have chosen to facilitate change in this way. This time frame provides time for everyone, including our children to know and understand what school will look like moving forward as we move to being ‘normal’ again i.e. pre pandemic. For some of our children and parents the way school has been structured at present is all they have known. Change is always easier to manage if we have time to understand what the changes are going to be.
As stated above more information will be shared with parents in the near future; so watch this space.
Have a wonderful weekend.
