It happened! This year it happened! The sun shone and all of our children could participate in our 2021 Sports Day.
It was a wonderful day. All the children participated so well, joining in with every activity and showing such good sportsmanship.
It was a day of being together and enjoying all the different physical activities Mrs Whitehead had planned, skipping, goal shooting, the obstacle course, hockey skills, balancing balls on a tennis racket, the beanbag relay and finally the running races.
The House Captains helped to organise the events and I had the opportunity to talk with them about their experience of the day. They all said that they thought it had been a ‘really successful day.’ When asked what had made it so successful, they said the following:
Thank you, House Captains, for all you did to help our Sports Day go so well. Thank you too, Year 6 who did a great job of helping the Big Acorns, Year 1s and Year 2s know what to do in each activity and where to go when it was time to move around. You all did a brilliant job. Thank you, Mrs Whitehead, for organising it all.
Mrs Hartmann and some of the Year 6 children took photos throughout the day, and these will be shared with parents so you can all get a taste of the day. Hopefully, next year we will be able to welcome our parents to our Sports Day so you can watch it ‘live’.

- - Everyone joined in and no one minded about winning, it was all about joining in and taking part.
- - There’s been lots of smiling and people encouraging and supporting each other.
- - It has been great to see people persevering and bouncing back when they may have dropped something or missed a shot.
- - Yes, I agree, I noticed so many people persevering and bouncing back.
- - It’s been a really hard year and it has been really great doing this today: it’s really brought some happiness and a bit of being normal.
- - As a House Captain is has been good to help out, to help people and be a role model. I have really liked that.
- - I enjoyed the KS1 Sports Day this afternoon more than my own because I really liked helping the little ones.
- - It has been so good to see everyone together.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all my staff. They have continued to work so hard this half term. I am so grateful to them all for their commitment and dedication.
I hope you all have a good half term.
Take care.
