As part of our school focus on Science, Design and Technology this year we took part in an Architecture workshop. We learnt made about shape and structures and used this knowledge to create some amazing structures in our classes.
We finished our Design and Technology themed week with a whole school exhibition of our vehicles, designs and evaluations.
Year 3 and 4 took part in a week long dance workshop exploring the value of compassion. They created a 15 minute long dance which was shared with parents at the end of the week.
We started our school festive preparations with a Christmas Craft and Jumper day. We all worked in mixed age groups and took part in lots of craft making activities, from wreaths to cards, there was lots of glitter and fun.
We hosted a ceremony in school for 29 people who were being registered as British Nationals and awarded Citizenship. The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Devon oversaw the ceremony. We sang the National Anthem and hosted a tea party for the new citizens and their guests.
Will it Fizz, Pop, Bang, Bubble? We had an exciting second science day exploring lots of different chemical reactions. We blew bubbles, made our own bubble makers, made balloon rockets, lauched air rockets, asked questions about changing chemical reactions, made mini rockets and launchers and really got excited about science!
As part of our Dragons week the children enjoyed taking part in a Chinese Dragon Dance Workshop. The children learnt two dance routines that they performed.
Our Dragons week, linking together art, music, dance and literacy has got off to a great start. The children arrived at school on Monday to find a nest and large footprints. They have made a start of their 3D artistic designs and things are beginning to take shape. Can you guess what they will turn out to be?
Our choir performed at the NEC in Birmingham with 6500 children from across the country. The children learnt a range of songs and on the day some dance routines. The children were amazed and enthralled by the size of the arena and the huge audience to perform to. there was a live band and a number of other artists performed alongside them. A fantastic and memorable experience!
The Community Christmas Party is a great way to say thank you to all the friends, neighbours, PTA member and Governors amongst others that help and support our school over the year. Year 6 did a great job at serving refreshments, entertaining guests and the choir performed brilliantly! Well done everyone.
It was great to see lots of parents and grandparents at Stop and Spell this morning, finding out about how we teach spelling and phonics in school. Lots of games played and fun had!
The school hosted a British Citizenship ceremony. The children witnessed the Lord Mayor invest and give citizenship to those who had applied and then hosted a tea party for the new citizens and their guests. The children in Year 5 and 6 had also taken part in a workshop the day before learning about the countries the applicants had come from and the reasons why they might be seeking citizenship in the UK.
Friday mornings kick start with ' Shake Awake' Mrs Wannell leads Key Stage 2 is a fun and active Boogie as they wake up and shake ready to be great learners during the rest of the day.
We celebrated Roald Dahl's birthday by coming dressed up characters from his books. We finished the day with a birthday picnic. We took part in lots of activities during the day including art, writing and reading. In Year 1 and Year 2 they made George's Marvellous Medicine! It smelt disgusting!
Key Stage 2 sports was a great success. The whole of sports days finished with Key Stage 1 parading their masks and headdresses and the whole school performing their Rio Olympic dance to parents!
Parents and children dropped into our workshop to day during transition evening to help create our new mosaic for the Garden of Friendship and Peace.
