Being safe on the road is an important life skill and Year 5 have been taking part in Bikeability, being safe, bright and seen is all part of the training. The children take to the road and develop their road safety and awareness skills.
What a great turnout to our maths curriculum evening. Over 50 children and their parents came along to our maths evening. We ran three workshops for parents focusing on developing a growth mindset, maths games and problem solving and fluency. The children were kept entertained with a story telling workshop from Entertainingly Different whilst parents stretched and flexed their brains solving maths problems and finding out more about how we teach maths at school.
We shared this video with parents as part of our Maths Curriculum Evening, focusing on how to develop a positive mindset.
Year 1 and 2 held a Circus showcase for their parents to share their learning at the end of their current theme. The theme linked together the children's learning in Literacy, History, Geography and PE. The children shared a range of circus skills they had developed with their parents then got them up at the end to have a go too!
Our new mural at the entrance to the school welcomes visitors and reinforces the theme of friendship. The children's designs reflect the images of Topsham that came be seen out and about, around the town and by the estuary. Children from across the school were involved in designing the tiles and everyone enjoyed trying to spot their designs. The mural was funded by the National Lottery as part of a school wide project to unite different groups within our community.
Bring a Book - Get a Book! We held the Giant Book Swap on World Book Day, which caused a real buzz and excitement amongst children to swap and exchange books. Children brought in books that they had finished reading and swapped them for new ones. Great for reading, great for recycling and the environment.
What great World Book Day costumes! The children dressed as their favourite character and during the course of the day took part in writing book reviews and character descriptions. The also had the 'Big Read' with adults reading the stories they had come dressed as to the children. Everyone was able to choose which story they wanted to listen to.
