There have been changes afoot in school throughout this week, as we prepare to welcome back the Year 6 children into their Blue and Yellow Pods. The team have been in all week, moving things, boxing things up, hiding things away and cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning. The environment does look different in some ways, but I must say it still looks beautiful, well organised and clutter free. Display boards have been revamped with the children’s beautiful art work from the two week art topic set as remote learning; a real reflection of the fact that even though the school has been and remains closed to most of our children, the teaching and learning has not stopped. It has continued and even though we may not be able to see you all face to face, you are all still here.
Our Key Worker Pods have transitioned into their allocated spaces and have settled really quickly. These children, the ones who have been with us since lockdown, have been incredible. They have been and continue to be a delight to have in the school.
Indeed, as I write this I am looking out onto the field and watching two of them climb a tree, three playing a racing game and two sat on either end of a bench chatting. Out of my other window is Mrs Hartmann, who is working in the KS1 and EY Key Worker Pod today, and what is she doing? She is sitting on the train with little ones spaced out around her, heading off to Disneyland; promoting imaginative play, collaboration and communication and language. It isn’t the school as we have known it, but it is still school.
I want to say again: THANK YOU. THANK YOU to my incredible team who have worked tirelessly to ensure that we are ready for Monday. And we are ready…………………..until the next set of changes appear!
I look forward to seeing my Year 6’s next week. If you have not been on the website recently, please do take a look at our school blog. Miss Greygoose and Mrs de Winton have created a video (Mrs Whitehead was the camera woman) showing how the Year 6 children will enter the school and also showing the inside of their pods. It’s a great clip.
Take care
