It has been so wonderful to welcome back more of our children today. We have missed our children so much. Although over the past few weeks our school has heard again the chatter and laughter of some of our Year groups, it is still not the same. It is, however, so lovely to know that before the end of term comes, we will, hopefully, have seen the vast majority of our children and they will have had the opportunity to see their friends, their current teacher and their new teacher.
As you will know, schools have been asked to begin to prepare to welcome back all our children in September. Today I received the government guidance to support the planning for the new academic year.
I would like to reassure you all now, that myself and my team will continue to plan carefully, and the safety and happiness of our children will remain at the core of all we do. Once I have a clear picture of what the government guidance means for our school and what school will ‘look like’ in relation to this guidance for all our children and their education, I will inform you. I will endeavour to do this as soon as possible to ensure parents, carers and children have time to digest and understand what may be different and what will stay the same. Please can I ask that you remain patient with us while we take time to plan and prepare.
I am SO looking forward to having ALL the children back. Tuesday marked 100 days of lockdown. As you know, the school didn’t lock down at that time, the school remained open to the children of critical workers and those children identified as vulnerable, staffed by my amazing team. 100 days……...a long time. I am SO grateful that we are now at a stage where it is deemed safe to plan for everyone's return.
On the note of gratitude, I found a poem called ‘Gratitude Stones’- it seemed quite apt having asked children to bring in a stone when they return for their transition session. It may be something you would like to do as a family.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing more of you in school next week; even if it is just for an hour and a half :)
